4/20/06 Distinct 5 moves to Cardboard Robots
Until a new webite is setup, we will continue to use this one for news posts. We are still sorting out how the sponsorships will work out. Also, the 1.6 team won it's first game of the season in CEVO-im with a 25-5 win over Resistance on de_inferno. Great start guys!

The Distinct 5 organization changes its name to Cardboard Robots after merging with Verge Gaming’s former Call of Duty 2 team.
The Distinct 5 organization, which is comprised of CS:S and 1.6 teams, has decided to join up with Verge Gaming’s former Call of Duty 2 team to create a larger organization called Cardboard Robots. The new mIRC channel is #cbR. Additionally, the CS:S team has released Kyle “Martyr” Defenbach, Ben “wotes” Holzman, and Jon “hauNt” Wilson, and recruited a few players formerly of One Eyed Zomblerz.
The new cbR source lineup includes:
Eric “brawwr” Neer
Carson “classified^” Holt
Andres “MiSTY” Gunaratne
Justin “heatwave” McKay
Logan “letifer” Burgess
Robert “smp” Bair
Here is a statement from Chris “Fontaine” Davis, manager of the D5 organization:
“When the Verge cod2 team broke away, their manager Chris “kimble” Lloyd came to me and proposed the merge to strengthen all of our teams and mentioned some sponsorship offers. Kimble himself was a member of D5 in the beginning of Season 3 and I was very interested in the idea. At the same time we had been playing with some of the members from Zomblerz and were moving towards roster changes after we won Desert Bash LAN 4.0 in Phoenix, AZ with Justin ‘heatwave’ McKay on our team. Personally, graduate school has been taking it’s toll on my time and I welcomed the idea of sharing management with Chris Lloyd, and since the original members that had built the Distinct 5 name were no longer with us, we decided a fresh new name would be appropriate. Cardboard Robots is a unique name that grew on us over time.”
4/2/06 D5 1.6 Completes CAL Regular Season
Tonight, the Distinct 5 team picked up it's 16th victory with a come from behind 16-14 win over Algorhithm16 (yes I spelled it right) on de_cpl_mill. After taking only 4 rounds on T side 1st half, the team locked down CT side with 12 rounds to secure the coveted 16-0 season.
3/27/06 D5 CS:S wins Desert Bash 4 LAN in Arizona
The Distinct 5 pug team consisting of members MiSTY, brawwr, and Tenringer, combined with Huey from BigBlack&Beautiful and Heatwave from One Eyed Zomblerz to take 1st place in convincing fashion, beating all 4 of their opponents by large margins, at the Desert Bash LAN tournament in Phoenix, Arizona this past Saturday. The prize was a Razor Diamondback Mouse for each player. Congratulations on the feat!

3/24/06 CS:S CAL Season Concluded
The CS:S Invite team's season came to a finish last night with a close 16-14 loss to Check Six on de_inferno. The close game came to a surprise by many who felt that we could have been the next Veracity-like victims (who lost 30-0 to x6 for 5:1) after our 24-6 loss to Forbidden just 5 days earlier on de_contra. Overall we are pleased with our 2nd half Invite finish and we're ready to take an overdue break after long months of practicing for CEVO, Everlan, and CAL, and we'll be back in full stride by the start of next CEVO season, which is expected to start at the beginning of May. The next CAL season is expected to begin the middle of May.
3/18/06 Website Updates and Euphnet
Thanks to our wonderful website designer Chris Diaz of Titanium 6, the 1.6 team now has a couple of links for the roster and matches. With how well they have been competing in CAL-intermediate this season, they have certainly deserved more recognition.
Although the CS:S team was not able to make it to Euphnet today, classified and hauNt were able to attend with a pug. They beat Unnecessarily Narcissistic Rhinoceroses (UNR) 16-4 on de_dust2 in the first round, then fell to The Edge of Sanity (TEoS) 16-7 on de_nuke and Exploit III (X3) 16-13 on de_contra in the subsequent rounds. I'm told it was a lot of fun!
3/15/06 GameWarrior Sponsors 1.6 Team
A few days ago, the 1.6 team announced that GameWarrior will be sponsoring them with a server. Does this have anything to do with their strong record thus far this season? Hmm... in any case, a link has been added Sponsors section in the lower right portion of the website if you wish to check them out.
In other news, the d5 CS:S team picked up a win over Veracity Gaming with a 19-11 showing on de_contra. Initially our opponents surprised us with some unanticipated pushes and positionings, but we regrouped and took our terrorist half 8-7. After Veracity won the first 3 gun rounds in the 2nd half, everyone seemed to find their groove and finished the half with a solid 11-4 score.
3/12/06 D5 ranks 5-6th as CEVO Concluded
With a loss tonight against infallible, the d5 source team has been eliminated from the Grand Championship Playoffs, taking 5-6th in CEVO Amateur overall. The map was de_inferno, with our opponents choosing to be CT first with no surprise. They had a very solid defense, and when we started to catch breaks, sometimes our mistakes would spoil it for us. All in all, we had a nice run in CEVO this inaugural season, and next season perhaps we'll be able to practice for the matches a bit more when we can have similar rosters for both CEVO and CAL alike.
In more good news from our 1.6 team, the d5 has pushed it's record to 11-0 with a 16-6 win over FauX on de_nuke. We know we have some forfeits to makeup, and hopefully we can find some opponents to play us.
3/8/06 Results and Euphnet
The d5 1.6 team continues to truck along, pulling a firm 22-8 win over isyc on de_train. Next up is dhp for 5:2 as the team attempts to hit double digit wins!
The d5 source team hit a couple snags this week. In CEVO, we lost to Legion of Terror on de_dust2 16-13 on Sunday. Although we questioned their skill, we didn't help matters with three lagouts at various moments in the 1st half. Our next match will be on de_inferno this upcoming Sunday against an opponent TBD. In CAL, we lost our 7:2 match against Devastation 20-10, in major part to severe lagouts in the 1st half, our CT side, which we lost 12-3. Misty was not able to play due to a very unstable internet, and his replacement Tenringer lagged out in both the opening pistol round and later after the team had saved for two rounds. We did decent on our T side all things considered.
Unfortunately, d5 will not be able to attend the Euphnet Source Tournament being held on March 18th due to problems fielding 5. We had 2 from norcal and 2 from socal going, but our other d5 members are spread out in other states. We regret not being able to go and we wish the best of luck to the teams competing.
3/2/06 More Matches
The 1.6 team picked up a big win, taking down Bringers of Ouchies 16-9 on de_cpl_fire. In the first half, Bo0 rallied from being down 7-1 to tie it before the d5 team took the last round. Our CT side was on lockdown and they left after 25 rounds. They were good sports about it. With a forfeit win over Game Sessions, who for some reason hasn't been marked inactive, we are the lone 8-0 team in the Pacific Conference. Keep it up guys!
The CS:S team also picked up a coule of big wins, coming back to edge Recon Syndicate 16-14 in CAL on de_cpl_fire, and beating Exploit Gaming in CEVO 16-8 on de_inferno tonight. Gamesense stats for the R-Syn match can be found on Gotfrag, and the win over Exploit puts d5 in the Grand Championship Playoffs. Now we look forward to Check-Six, our TBD CEVO opponents, and possibly a CAL makeup match.
2/27/06 Invite Matches
Sunday we played a tough game against Upper on de_cpl_fire and was shut down in the first half 12-3 on our T side. After losing pistol + eco rounds of 2nd half, we won the next 7 of 8 to make it a closer game, but ended up losing 19-11. Their teamwork in the pistol rounds was instrumental, as the game was otherwise much closer than the score indicates.
Monday night we played Wat? Gaming for a de_nuke makeup Invite makeup match. Classified^ couldn't play because his power went out, however Tenringer played for him and put up big numbers. Wat? had been having a rough night following their loss to One-eyed Zomblers in CEVO and were somewhat off their game. They had a lag out in the beginning of the 2nd half and we went ahead and relo3'd it. The end score was 23-7. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season!
2/25/06 Match Results and Sponsors
Distinct 5 locked up it's first official win in CAL-Invite, beating EZ5 on de_train 17-13. After an impressive 13-2 CT 1st half, the server we borrowed crashed after we won the pistol round on T side. After restarting the server, ventrilo crashed about 5 rounds into the half, which contributed to our losing the first 7 or so rounds. Eventually we pulled ourselves together to pick up enough rounds to put the win under our belts.
CEVO finals against Definition on de_contra did not go so well, as we lost 16-3. We unwisely got only 1 scrim on the map just before matchtime, picked CT first, and had 3 players playing new positions. Our hats go off to Definition though, as they would have been a tough team to beat even if we were prepared. Now, we await the winner of the two Exploit teams in the lower bracket to face on de_inferno in about 5 days.
Our 1.6 division is off to a good start at 6-0, having beat team Beautiful in convincing fashion 19-2 before they left the server. Next up will be a good challenge: Bringers of Ouchies, who is sitting at a strong 5-1 record. We wish our team good luck!
A couple days ago we welcomed Jon "hauNt" Wilson back to the lineup. He will be taking over for Eric "erC" Harris in a short bit, who is nearing retirement from his 6-year service in Counterstrike. Eric has been an amazing comrade both in game and out of game, and his maturity and attitude will be missed. He will, however, be playing in at least 1 more CAL match, so we hope we can wish him well with a nice farewell win.
Lastly, we wish to thank Mainstream Gaming for now providing the webhosting for our website. They also provide our ventrilo, as we have dropped the free CEVO vent after our unfortunate accident in the EZ5 match. They have truly taken care of us and I want to give a shoutout to PatC, a fantastic MSG manager. Thanks for all your continued support!
2/21/06 Match Results for CS:S and 1.6
Sunday night we played our first match in Source Invite against the #1 team so far this season, Verge Gaming. With much practice, we had solid pistol round wins and went pound for pound against them, especially on T side. Their tenacity and experience won several close rounds and not suprisingly, the match 17-13. We hope to carry lessons learned to subsequent matches. Good job to the participating players on everyone's first Invite match!
In CEVO playoffs, Realize Your Demise had to forfeit due to lack of internet connection while at PDX LAN. We were hoping to play them before they attended, but schedules conflicted. In Round 3, we played Exploit[nc] on de_train, winning CT half 11-4. In the second half, we were up 15-6 before they won 6 consecutive rounds before we pulled out the win. Congrats to both teams.
The 1.6 team won a close match over Let Me Fly, 16-14 on de_inferno. Though we give credit to our opponents, we felt our game play was off tonight and are happy we came out with the win. Also, Fontaine has given complete control over the team to Bobby "JaP" Yamanaka officially. So all 1.6 related inquires should be directed appropriately. We wish them the best as they try to stay unbeaten!
2/18/06 1.6 division and newest CS:S recruits
As everyone is probably aware by now, we are proud to announce the pickup of a cal-im 1.6 division. Bobby "JaP" Yamanaka is in charge of all aspects of this team and has a solid core of players. Until we can setup a page for them in this website, you can view the team roster by clicking on the CAL 1.6 link in the leagues box in the bottom right. So far this season they have compiled an 8-0 record (4-0 from the preseason) and appear to be strong contenders in the league. We wish them the best and we'll keep you updated!
About 2-3 weeks ago, with the departures of yack and polish (as well as long time d5 member Fabian "fab" Fazzi"), we picked up 3 members formerly of The Predominant Influence: Martyr, wotes, and erC. Their teamwork and dedication to the game have helped propel us to Invite and we hope to develop upon our already strong chemistry. Our ideal lineup now consists of brawwr, classified^, misty, martyr, and wotes, with erC, tenringer, and JaP filling in for CAL or CEVO when needed.
2/17/06 We're back
Our website is nearly finished, thanks for the patience. Yesterday we received news on our moveup to Invite. We are honored to be selected and we hope we can contribute to the stability of the league. Congratulations also to n2p who has played well in Pacific Main both this season and last, compiling a total record of 20-5. There were other deserving teams to be moved to invite and we hope to see them there in subsequent seasons.
Also, congrats to the EverLAN team who did decently well. Only a slim loss to EF Gaming seperated us from placing in the money, but they were also moved up to Invite, so no shame. Since returning from the tournament, yack has parted ways with d5 on the best of terms and is now playing for Plastic Action Figures Inc. and polish has taken up a full-time job with the post office and has left the team. We thank them for their friendship and contributions to the team over the last 3-4 months.
A complete d5 match history has just been finished. I think everyone will find it to be quite thorough.
12/15/06 Inaugural post
Welcome to the new Distinct 5 website! It will continue to be worked on over the next few weeks.
Thanks to Titanium 6 for creating the site!
We are invited and sponsored to attend EverLAN in Denver Jan 20-22! Please wish Yack, WMD.brawwr, classified^, polish, and MiSTY the best as they represent our team. The competition will be stiff with all the best attending.
Thanks to everyone who has continued to support D5. |
